hi, I’m Laksmi.

I make your handmade goods here in the Pacific Northwest. Find me in the mountains, dancing with my hula hoop, or teaching kiddos how to read.

A friend once asked me who I create for. At the time, I answered “myself” and to “inspire others.” Upon some self-reflection, I realized the missing piece - a very important layer in why this work is so important. I grew up in a family of artists. My father is a musician and my grandfather is a painter, and everyone in between works with their hands in some way whether it is floristry or dance.

Khmer artists have persevered. And I am so lucky to witness the way that the artistic roots of my family have continued to live on.

There is a quote by James Baldwin -

“Now, it is true that the nature of society is to create, among its citizens, an illusion of safety, but it is also absolutely true that safety is always necessarily an illusion. Artists are here to disturb the peace.”

Art is power. Art is community. Art is action.

Art creates waves of of hope and change in a world that so desperately needs it.
